 Purpose

ASSIST was established in 1993 to provide a national network for people involved with information management and technology in health and social care.

With over 600 members from all grades and branches of health & social care, the Yorkshire & Northern branch offers it's membership a sense of identity as well as providing a network for the exchange of information, good practice and addressing topical issues through a series of regular events and email updates.  Through the National Council it aims to set, raise and maintain professional standards in IM&T, influence policy at national and local levels, and offers advice on IM&T issues across the NHS.

ASSIST is an associated group within the British Computer Society (BCS) and all ASSIST members are automatically affiliate members of the BCS.

 Message From Your Branch Committee

With the change of the BCS financial year from 1st May - April 30th to 1st September - 31st August the Y&N ASSIST financial and management year had to change to match as laid out in our Branch constitution.  This means that rather belatedly the 2008/09 year was 16 months long and that all mangement arrangements have been re-started at the 1st of September - this will not make any difference to the April - March year for Group memberships but means that the next AGM and elections of Committee members will not take place until 2010.  Should anyone wish to join the Committee before this date just drop a line to Paul Twiddy the Branch Secretary

 Next Committee Meeting

The Next Branch Committee Meeting will be held at 2:30pm, on Wednesday, 3rd February 2010 at St James's University Hospital, Beckett Street, Leeds. LS9 7TF.  If you would like to raise an issue at this meeting, or just attend to see what goes on please contact the Secretary Paul Twiddy
